RBT vs. BCBA: who does what?
BCBAs and RBTs can have different but coordinated roles. Understanding who designs, delivers, and supervises care helps families know where to bring questions.

The BCBA is a graduate-level behavior analyst who may assess, select goals, design procedures, analyze data, train caregivers, and supervise services. State licensure or other rules may also apply.
The RBT role
The RBT is a paraprofessional who may implement the approved plan and collect data under close, ongoing supervision. An RBT does not independently design treatment or practice without required supervision.
Who should I contact?
Bring daily scheduling or session questions to the direct team. Bring questions about goals, procedures, progress, ethics, or clinical changes to the supervising BCBA.
