What to expect from an initial ABA assessment
An initial ABA assessment helps a qualified clinician understand strengths, needs, routines, and priorities before recommending a treatment plan.
Request ServicesBefore the appointment
The team may ask for approved records through a secure intake process, explain consent, and schedule caregiver interviews or observations. Do not email sensitive documents unless the organization provides an approved method.
During the assessment
The clinician may talk with caregivers, observe everyday skills, interact with the child, and use assessment tools. Families should be told what is happening and can ask questions.
Recommendations and authorization
The clinician summarizes findings and recommends goals, settings, and intensity. The payer may then review the plan for medical necessity and authorization. A recommendation is not a guarantee of coverage or immediate staffing.
